Rowan and Pete’s Gildings Barns wedding was a brilliant day from start to finish. It was August bank holiday weekend but the weather had missed the memo on that one and decide cold and wet was theme for the day. It was unfortunate that it rained all day, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of this hardy Scottish could who took it in their stride.
I’d met up with Rowan and Pete for their engagement shoot on Leith Hill back in January. Where once again the weather wasn’t on their side as it was snowing, but we went ahead regardless and the photos are stunning.
The morning began with the bride Rowan getting ready in at The Best Log Cabin, a luxury rural retreat on a working Surrey farm. After driving down a long track road through the farm I finally arrived at this wonderful cabin on its own private island. The cosy cabin had a really relaxed feel and it was filled with laughter as Rowan and her bridesmaids got ready for the big day ahead. Rowan looked absolutely stunning in her lace detailed A-line dress, it suited her perfectly. With all the final touches complete it was time to dash out into the rain and head to the venue.
Gildings Barns is a stunning rustic barn venue in nestled in the Surrey countryside. It comprises of several interconnecting hand built barns, all which retain their original charm and character. The tranquil venue is surrounded by open fields lined with mature woodland, it truly is stunning. Waiting nervously inside was the groom Pete looking rather dashing in his traditional Scottish attire. But the nerves quickly disappeared once he saw the beaming smile on his brides face as she walked down the aisle towards him.
The couple chose to have the wonderful celebrant Jenny Knight conduct their ceremony and tell their love story in a very personal way. Throughout the ceremony there was lots of laughter and you could feel the emotion in the room as the guests watched the couple in awe. After the ceremony with the rain set in for the day the guests enjoyed the ambience of the rustic barns and the celebrations began. The day had a really relaxed family feel as chatter and hugs filled the atmosphere. And kudos to Rowan and Pete for braving the elements outside for their photos. It was driving rain, there was no escaping it but they just got on with it, no fuss. Back inside for the wedding breakfast then followed by the entertaining and heartfelt speeches that had everyone laughing and crying in all the right places. And what better way to get the party started than a five piece folk band. The guests were up on their feet dancing like no-one was watching, exactly how it should be.
I had a fantastic day at Rowan and Pete’s Gildings Barns Wedding, massive congratulations to this wonderful couple xx
