Summer Marquee Wedding
Wowzer this summer marquee wedding was absolutely incredible! The post-lockdown high level energy and atmosphere throughout the day was tangible. And at the centre of it all the bride and groom, Isabelle and Tom radiated love and happiness which spread to everyone single person at their wedding. The smiles on their faces in every photo say it all, in fact there’s not once photo where Isabelle isn’t smiling from ear to ear. Having had the pleasure of photographing Isabelle’s sister’s wedding at the same location a few years before I was among many familiar and friendly faces which made the day extra special.
The preparations
My morning began with the groom prep at a house nearby where Tom was staying with his family. Tom was there to greet me on arrival however in true groomsmen fashion they were nowhere to be seen, they had in fact gone for a morning stroll. Hastily beckoned back by the mother of the groom slowly a team of kilt clad Scotsmen appeared ready for the photos. There was an almost ceremonious presentation of ties with strong handshakes and grand cheers from the men, lifting the energy and the reality of the day up a gear. With the full attire donned and bottonholes mastered the gents wore their tartan in style and were looking very sharp. I made a swift exit to get over to the Isabelle at her parents house where things were somewhat more relaxed and laid back. The ladies were enjoying the morning sipping bubbles and chatting as the final touches were added to hair and makeup. Isabelle was sat laughing and smiling with her bridesmaids all around looking so relaxed as if she got married every day. She looked utterly gorgeous in her lace back detailed dress along with her lovely bridesmaids in shades of gold.
The ceremony
The ceremony was held at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Haslemere. The guests were greeted to the sound of bagpipes played by the bride’s brother-in-law as they arrived at the church. And the ceremony was taken by none other than the bride’s father, so it was a real family affair. The ceremony itself was beautiful and comprised of many personal and touching elements involving people close to the couple, all adding to the grand sense of occasion. After the ceremony Isabelle was whisked away in style by her new husband in a classic Rolls Royce.
The reception
The wedding reception was held in a large marquee on the grounds of The Royal School in Haslemere in Surrey. The skies were very grey and the heavy rain was on it’s way but it held out just in time to enjoy the reception drinks outside. There was an incredible jubilant feeling of celebration, not only for the happy couple but for the return to normal life post lockdown restrictions. And this is turn insured that the guest were certainly ready to have a good time! Drinks and laughter were flowing as people chatted with friends and family not seen for a long time. Just as it was time to sit for the speeches the rain came and then it poured. But it didn’t dampen any spirits as the speeches started and had everyone in stitches. The father of the bride kicked things off and he set the bar very high, but the groom and bestmen equally entertained to a full house laughter. As the evening continued the party began with a first dance like no other. Tom and Isabelle had a few spins together then quickly invited their guests to join them on the dance floor, and it went absolutely nuts!! There were ties on heads, dance offs, splits, spins, everything was happening, it was amazing!!
I had a wonderful time photographing Isabelle and Tom’s wedding, truly a fantastic day for a kind and incredibly loved couple. x
