This Old Mill wedding was super cool and oozed in 50’s style. The Old Mill in Aldermaston is a beautifully quaint venue near Reading. A former flour mill dating back to the 1800’s the historic building in full of character and original features of the mill. Set on the River Kennet with acres of gardens surrounding this really is a super wedding venue. I’d worked at The Old Mill a few times before so it was great to be back in the familiar setting in the glorious autumnal sunshine.
Rachael and Mark are a cool fun couple and so was their wedding day. The groom Mark and guests were gathered outside chatting and looking relaxed for the day ahead. With the Mill backdrop and vintage cars glistening in the sun it’s fair to say they were looking slick. Rachael arrived in equal style with her beautiful brightly coloured bridesmaids and her dad smashing effortless cool. They had their ceremony in the Stable Room which is a cosy intimate space perfect for accommodating up to 75 guests. And though the ceremony is the serious part of the day that doesn’t mean it has to be quiet and solemn, and for this happy couple it certainly wasn’t. In fact Rachael was laughing as she walked up the aisle on her father’s arm and the laughter continued throughout the ceremony as they embraced their moment of certifying their love. And Mark, always the showman the posed for the signing of the register in his own unique way, sporting his personalised Rachael stocks with his new brides face on.
The late September sun was glorious and the autumnal colours glowing, it really is a lovely time of the year. We got to make the most of the venue for the photographs and Rachael and Mark were so relaxed and natural is was a dream. With the family and couple shots done it was then time for the boys to pose, and they certainly weren’t shy, in fact loving their moment in front of the camera!
All the guests were in great spirits, enjoying the wonderful day and setting. Then it was time for the wedding breakfast inside the Mill with its warming red brick interior and cosy log fire. The room was filled with love and laughter and drinks flowing. Then onto the hilariously entertaining speeches which had the room and me in stitches. And the evening entertainment had it’s own unique vibe with a punk rock band setting the night alive!
It was a truly wonderful wedding for Rachael and Mark at the Old Mill, massive congratulations to this superb couple xx
